When should I apply my bridal henna? How many days before the big day/event should I apply my henna? We usually recommend applying your henna 2 to 3 days before your big day for optimum colour. The henna we use is of high quality and 100% natural so it will typically take 2 to 3 days for the colour to develop and reach that perfect henna stain. It doesn’t make a difference whether you pick 2 or 3 days before your special day. Please note, if you are allergic to essential oils or citrus, please do let us know.

Should I apply my bridal henna during the henna party? We usually recommend applying the bridal henna on a different day to the henna party, or at least 4-5 hours before the henna party commences. As we strive for perfection in each henna line or dot that forms your beautiful intricate henna design, it is ideal to set up an environment where you are least likely to move around in order to aid a smooth henna application process. If there are many people around when applying the henna you will more likely to subconsciously faintly move your body, reducing the neatness and speed of the henna application. Not to spoil the party, but we have observed choosing another day for henna application has helped brides enjoy and host their henna party better too. If you are hiring a professional photographer then it may help to ask if they can come on a different day too. If you find that the photographer can only come on the day of the henna party then we have seen best that the bride can take some “mock shots'' of the henna application near to when the henna finishes. Either the henna artist can pretend to be applying henna on the bride or you can get some of your close friends pretending to apply the henna for the bride. Nevertheless, if you do choose to apply the henna on the same day as the henna party then it is recommended to invite the guests towards the end of the henna completion time for less disturbance. However, if you still really want us during the henna party then we will try our best to make it work for you.

Should I book my manicure and waxing before or after the henna application date? Please Note: After the henna is applied, it is important to avoid water and any form of exfoliation such as spas, swimming, steaming, waxing, manicures, pedicures and exfoliators. Remember any form of exfoliation will remove the layer of the skin and thus the henna will start to fade quicker. If you really have to do your nails after the henna is applied then we recommend you have a dry manicure or pedicure service where there is no water used during the procedure. Or nowadays, many brides get their manicure and pedicure done before the haldi/pithi ceremony (a ceremony where haldi paste that also stains the nails is applied on the bride's body) but leave nail painting for after henna is applied. Upon request, many nail salons allow brides to get their manicure without the nail paint and then after the pithi event revisit the salon to complete the nail paint.

What type of henna does SV use, how long will it last? Are there any chemicals in the henna and do I need a patch test? Please note the henna we used is 100% natural homemade henna that develops into a rich mahogany stain, with good after care, will last approximately four days and then slowly start to fade thereafter. If you have any allergies to essential oils or citrus, please do let me know. Black henna has PPD (black hair dye) in it that can cause severe side effects (and is illegal in some countries). Hence, we only use the safest natural henna that develops to orange/red colour the next day but with good after care it can develop further into a dark maroon colour on the 2nd day.

How long will my henna application take?Bridal Henna can take 4-9 hours to apply, depending on the intricacy and amount required.
